Fun in Sun
Jun. 11th, 2008 10:03 pmDuring my vacation I had been planning on going to Provincetown with Steve and Val for a couple of days. Stuff happened (as it does) and their trip was postponed a week. Lucky for me I have the type of job that I can usually take vacation days with little to no advanced warning so I still managed to get there for a couple of days. Note to you Boston-types: the trip to the Cape is completely stress- and traffic-free if you go early Sunday morning.
The place they rented is gorgeous: three bedrooms, full kitchen, washer/dryer, 2 baths, huge LR fully furnished like a house would be with books, stereo, games, and outside a cute little front yard with flowers and all around the back a good sized deck. Ahhhhhh, the deck!

Doesn't Val look relaxed? After Sunday brunch at someplace I can't remember the name of but was something like Bubula's, we spent the rest of the day lounging on the deck listening to the Sox game. It was in the 90s in Boston, but when the tide came in it came with an awesome breeze. After dinner we drove over to another beach to catch the sunset, then came back for ice cream and tv surfing. Pretty perfect day!
On Monday I woke up at low tide and saw this:

How awesome is THAT view? We drove down Commercial Street to Fanizzi's for lunch, then hid from the cruel daystar for a while. We eventually got bored hanging out inside, so we took a ride to Wellfleet — mostly because S&V hadn't been there other than to go to the drive-in. We went into a neat shop and I found Suzanne a present, but it was 2pm and brutally hot, so we kept the exploring to a minimum (and made sure it involved ice cream). Headed back home and stopped at the Cape Lighthouse on the way.

It was so hazy there was almost no horizon visible!

Afterward it was more deck. Val and I waded in to the ocean briefly,

and then sat reading on the deck some more.

I took a few more photos before dinner,

and then we hung out and chatted for the rest of the night. I wanted to leave around noon the next day to beat rush hour traffic at the other end, so we spent a little more time together in the morning and picked up lunch at a local grocery/sandwich shop, and finally I bid the deck adieu and hit the road. I have decided that every vacation needs to be exactly like this. Except for those in which I travel a lot!

Some more pix in my Flickr photostream. See me be insane! See high tide! Check out the next-door neighbor! Check out the rebellious wildlife! See lots of pretty flowers! See another pretty flower! See low tide! More deck!
Or just view the set!
