I don't want to think about politics, or society, or treatment of prisoners, or anything! I just want to groove to 1,500 hardened Philippine convicts dancing to "Thriller."  Making something beautiful out of something ugly. And hey! Zombies!

It was uncomfortable to watch the first time - is this a human rights violation, and if so, how bad is it that I'm enjoying it so much? The articles I read suggest it's purely voluntary, so I felt much better.

( Now... are there sequels?)

That's a good point -- I had read the article first, so I didn't have the worry about the human rights violation angle.

The videos are strangely compelling (and toe-tappy!). I wish the warden was a better cameraman. And I wish the longer videos didn't degenerate halfway through into scary Philippine pop music. But I still find it sort of heartwarming. And then I try to picture the guys from "Oz" all marking time while a shemale flounces around in mock terror. It's an interesting mental exercise...
