a pretty good day!
Jun. 16th, 2011 01:51 amSo today was a pretty good day overall. First up, it was a GORGEOUS day outside. Sat in the yard reading at lunch as I was home for my WFH day, got some sun and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Bought some kindle books on really good sale. Started playing Words With Friends and am in the middle of three games (that I am losing, but hey! Maybe I'll get better). Picked Brian up, had dinner. Watched the Bruins game with him. We kept being impressed by the plucky Tim Thomas. 37 years old? Awesome. And the winning was nice, too. Also, in a not-even-on-anyone's-radar sporting event, Beckett threw a one-hitter complete game against Tampa Bay (making it 10-1 in the last 11 games). If it had been any other night, the news would have lead with that tidbit.
Now watching the rioting in Boston and Vancouver. Seriously, WTF is up with this shit? YAY! MY TEAM WON! LET'S SET SOME CARS ON FIRE! At least Vancouver is much worse than we are. We don't hold the patent on stupid post-game behavior.

Pretty good week so far, in fact. Saturday after work P, B, and I got some takeout from On the Border and settled in to catch up on the last two Dr. Who episodes. This season was largely unsatisfactory, and I thought there were plot holes everywhere, but hey. Time travel. Anyway, the last couple eps were better than the others this season.
Sunday I did mostly nothing, which was swell. Napped. Read. Lazed. Then of course I got my second wind and I got the previously-mentioned tedious stuff that I had wanted to do mostly done — I set up an account with Mint.com (and was appropriately horrified at how quickly I hit my budgets on things like "restaurants" and "fast food"). I also applied for a PIN for financial aid* and filled out my FAFSA*.
Monday was chores day, and suddenly I was on fire. I cleaned up the house, helped mom out with a few things, finished some laundry, put out a metric buttload of recycling, returned $16 worth of soda cans, paid bills, sorted paper, dropped off some clothes at the charity box, etc. Pretty satisfying. Brian made steak on the grill, so that was pretty satisfying also.
Tuesday was little more than work, meeting Brian after work for dinner, and home to bad tv and internet.
And that's it. I think I'm starting to feel a little more upbeat, lately. I don't know if it's as simple as summer sinking into my bones, or if it's just chemical, but I am not quite as insane about/at work, and I feel a little happier in general.

*I'm not saying I'm definitely going to school again, I'm just keeping all my options open. I still need to fill out the application for school and meet with someone over there. And decide if I want to spend seven grand on it.
