Yes, because you have a car now and it would be easy enough to do so! Imagine you before Jeff...no car! You can't carry everything on the bus, especially not the pets...and you probably couldn't afford to spend $950 like one couple did to take a CAB to evacuate...
Anyway, I would kick up a HUGE fuss at the shelter until they let me bring my pet in. In fact, I'd stand directly outside the door with my cat carriers and stare inside until they let me in. I bet it would work. Hopefully I'll never have to know.
