I'm in my room, doin' some stuff

So it's halfway through my vacation week and I am sad. Weeks are so long when you're working; it shouldn't be the reverse when you're not working, it really shouldn't.
I managed to get a couple things done this week:
So that's my week. I'm sure the rest of it will be more of the same. I'd like to also finish my electronic file organizing project. We'll see!
You're still here? It's over! Go home!
I managed to get a couple things done this week:
- This evening I did my taxes, federal and state. I used H&R Block online for federal ($9.95, although after I filed I realized I had coupons for free filing, so that makes me sad) and I did the state Telefile system (free). I am having both refunds direct deposited, so I should have my refunds in a couple days (state) and a couple weeks (fed). Good to have off my plate.
- I also printed out the pictures of the damaged stuff for my insurance claim today. Tomorrow I will finish filling out the paperwork and then mail it off.
- Today I also went to the post office to update my passport. My local P.O., it turns out, doesn't even carry the forms to start the process. I didn't have time to drive to the office that does have the forms (next town over), so that one's pended for later in the week.
- I got a haircut yesterday. It's shorter than it's been in a few years, which makes me happy. It's still long by almost anyone's standard, but it no longer goes down to my butt. Basically right below the shoulder blades — or as my stylist said (in a stage whisper) "so maybe to the bra strap??" When you've got models stalking around in their underwear on commercials on every channel, you should probably assume "bra" is no longer a naughty word, hon. She was probably 25. Kids today!
- I made an appointment for a tuneup and six-month checkup for my car (it's on Friday). My car is eleven years old, and I have started fantasizing about (and pricing) new(er) cars. Since I still have an extra credit card balance out there that I don't want to have when I go looking for financing, it's going to have to wait a few months. But man, teh shiny! I hope this checkup and tuneup can help make my car live a while longer.
- I made my mammogram appointment, it's tomorrow. Yay! Good Laurie. Getting a mammogram isn't that bad anyway, might as well be diligent about getting it done. This will be my second!
- I made an appointment to bring the cat in for his checkup in a week. Since he's on thyroid medicine, the vet wants to see him every three $#%^ months for blood work to make sure the dosage is right — which in reality is just a nice steady income for them.
- I go in for my annual eye exam Monday, and my 6 mo. teeth cleaning a week from Monday. Who's the proactive girl? That's right, it's me! I hate all this stuff, I like to get it all over with as soon as I possibly can in small miserable clumps.
- I went to the W___Public Library, thinking it might be nicer than my local library — and thinking since W___ is a pretty rich little town it might have more and nicer stuff. I was disappointed! For one thing, the library has kind of an iccky smell just inside the entrance. Not classy. And they have all audiobooks as rentals (ok, it's only $1 per borrowing period, but it's stupid!). And the fiction section is in the basement next to the kids' room, which was filled with sullen teenagers all hanging out cruising the internet. So I didn't like it. Give me my cute library any day. Too bad!
- OTOH, I borrowed two audiobooks from my local library this week, tried to rip them on my laptop, and only got about 7 out of the 11 disks to play on my system at all on one of them, and couldn't get the first disk to play on the second one so I gave up. They looked ok to the naked eye, but damn! I have a lot of problems with their audiobooks. I complained once, I'll have to point it out again. At least they're free!
- I worked my way through a big canvas bag of papers I needed to organize. I now have it in two piles — a huge "to be filed" pile, and a tiny manila folder of "needs attention". I've been plowing through that today, trying to empty it out. Maybe tomorrow I can empty the "to be filed" pile!
- Part of the "needs attention" pile was my annual Excise tax bill and a small bill for my last doctor visit (my copay went up and they charged me the old rate) — finally paid those today. Yay!
- I cleaned off a workplace for Mom to do some organizing. I also made her a couple of forms that she wanted to track her bills. I fixed her glasses. I did the food shopping. I ran a few errands for her.
- I'm in the middle of five books right now. Five. I am going to finish them ALL by the end of the week if I can.
- Saturday I am going to watch someone get mutilated on purpose! I am bringing my camera. I'm hoping for tears and blood!
So that's my week. I'm sure the rest of it will be more of the same. I'd like to also finish my electronic file organizing project. We'll see!
