that's really super, supergirl!

I had a nothing day on Tuesday, and then by some miracle I woke up on Wednesday and I felt good. Like, no pain in my knee for the first time in something like three or four years. No real aches. Awesome! I have no real idea about what could have caused it, but it was a little present that I was willing to take. Maybe the barometric pressure combined with the dryness made conditions just right. Maybe it was the extra hour of sleep I got. Maybe it was the fact that right before I went to sleep the night before I cranked the space heater for a few minutes and got the room kind of toasty. No idea. If I'd spent the day foggy I'd have worried that I accidentally took a percocet or something. But I was pretty alert. I changed the height on my desk chair a few days ago, and it does seem easier on my knees, but that can't be all of it, right?

I didn't even notice it at first. I got out of bed, logged in to work, and went downstairs to get some breakfast. Got all the dishes into the dishwasher, ran it, washed down the counters, cleaned up some recycling, went downstairs to the basement to get some laundry in, came back upstairs and did a bunch of work, sorted out some stuff on my desk, went downstairs to get another load of laundry in, put away all the dishes, cleaned up the living room, went outside to put away the trash cans and moved some stuff around out there (enough snow has finally melted that I could find our recycling bins again, yay! plus I went outside in short sleeves and wasn't even cold), came back inside and rotated the laundry again, did more work, washed the pots and pans, did some more cleaning and tidying, brought up all the trash & recycling from the basement, dried and put away all the pots and pans, and more. Loads of trips up and down the stairs.

And at some point in there I realized that I had more energy than I'd had in months, and that going up and down the stairs wasn't killing me like it usually does. It was awesome! I was productive and I wasn't dead afterward. I took some ibuprofen just in case, and once Brian got home and I finished work we headed out for some quick dinner and some grocery shopping. And still no pain. I know for most people that level of activity is part of a normal day, and is pretty low, even, for people with kids. But for me I usually have to stop and rest my knee after about an hour or so on my feet. I spent the rest of the night lazing around, just to make up for all the action earlier, but I am still pretty pleased.

Whatever combination of luck, weather, sleeping correctly, meds balancing, etc. gave me a day of energy and no pain? Is an awesome thing that should come back again! I am going to go to bed early tonight to give it a fighting chance.

I hope that this isn't a one-day thing and that you can have a lot of knee-pain-free days!
